Amber Bruns, MM, MT-BC, Neurologic Music Therapist

Amber has been a board-certified music therapist since May of 2017, and completed her first training in Neurologic Music Therapy in August of 2017.

She graduated summa cum laude with honors from the Capital University Conservatory of Music with a Bachelor of Music degree in Keyboard Pedagogy in 2014. While at Capital, Amber studied her primary instrument, piano, with Steinway artist Dr. Tianshu Wang. She studied organ and voice as secondary instruments.  Amber graduated from Ohio University with a Master of Music degree in Music Therapy in 2018. While at OU, Amber studied piano with Dr. Christopher Fisher, an internationally known collaborative pianist and pedagogue. Amber also held a graduate assistantship in music theory during her time at OU.

Amber completed her internship at University Hospitals Cleveland Medical Center where she worked closely with Dr. Deforia Lane. While at UH Amber gained experience in working with medical patients in ICUs, general med/surg floors, cancer patients, palliative care patients, hospice patients, infusion outpatients, outpatients with mood disorders, and at-risk preschoolers.

At COMT, Amber works most frequently with adult medical patients, hospice patients, and adults with developmental disabilities. She operates primarily in the Columbus area, and supervises company interns at Columbus sites. Amber also supervises practicum students for Ohio University.

Amber is a member of the Association of Ohio Music Therapists (AOMT) and the American Music Therapy Association (AMTA).
